Pediatrics

From infants to graduates, Cope Family Medicine is devoted to providing the best pediatric care in Bountiful. We provide exceptional care for our patients during these foundational years in learning, behavior and health.

You and your kids can expect friendly, professional care in a comfortable office setting. We pride ourselves in encouraging your child’s development from the first well-child check to the last high school physical.

Our Bountiful pediatricians provide every parent with the support and resources needed for their child’s healthy development. Cope Family Medicine also offers prenatal consultations for couples ready to be parents.

Well Child Check-Ups

Our doctors believe that well child visits are an important part of pediatric services. Even if your child shows no signs of illness or injury, regular check-ups with your Bountiful pediatrician keep them up to date through evaluation of their general health, growth, and development.

Regular checkups help our pediatricians detect and address health issues before they become serious. Appointments are great opportunities for you and your child to bring up questions about their health. During the well child check-ups at Cope Family Medicine, our pediatricians will monitor and conduct:

●      Vision and hearing test

●      Vaccinations

●      Health exams

●      Lab services

●      Growth and development tracking

●      Medical referrals to a specialist

At your child’s first visit, your Bountiful pediatrician will develop an appointment schedule with you. In the first few years, wellness visits will be more frequent due to vaccines.

Immunizations

A specific immunization schedule for children up to age 18 is recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics, American Academy of Family Physicians and the U.S. Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP). This schedule is designed to protect children against harmful diseases and make them less severe if contracted. By vaccinating your children, you are protecting them from a host of diseases by the age of two.

Urgent Care

Emergencies can be scary for you and your child. Cope Family Medicine is here to help with our state-of-the-art urgent care facility.

The providers at our urgent care facility have treated thousands of children with unexpected fevers, injuries, allergic reactions and other conditions. Our facility offers extended weekend and weeknight hours to keep wait times short. Another benefit of our pediatric urgent care facility are co-pays available at much lower cost than an emergency room visit.

Behavioral and Social Development

Every child should have the same opportunities to flourish into a healthy adult. It can be difficult for parents to discern “normal” behavior in their children, and the answer is not always clear. If you suspect that your child may have a developmental delay or behavior issue, Cope Family Medicine in Bountiful has a Pediatric Behavior Specialist available to explore options.

Our Child Behavior Specialists work with specialty groups who can identify possible conditions in child development. The team helping your child might include including nutritionists, physical therapists, audiologists, speech pathologists, nurses and other individuals, depending on their needs. The pediatricians at Cope Family Medicine can identify a variety of childhood behaviors, including ADD/ADHD, depression, anxiety, and autism. Our goal with the pediatric behavioral health is to keep parents informed and to help children live the most fulfilling lives possible.

Sports Physicals

Most sports leagues and schools require players to receive a sports physical prior to participation. This exam is important to safety, because it ensures that young athletes are physically capable of meeting the activity’s demands.

During a sports physical, Cope Family Medicine pediatricians screen athletes for conditions that could limit their activity. If your child lives with preexisting medical conditions, our pediatricians ensure that the existing conditions will not be aggravated by intense exercise.

Every sports physical is accompanied by a questionnaire to evaluate the child’s medical history, which will ask for information about previous and ongoing illnesses, injuries, medications and treatments. Come prepared with the following information:

●      Personal and family history of illness

●      Diagnosed medical conditions

●      Current medications and past hospitalizations

●      Immunizations

●      Allergies

●      Emergency contac information

●      Menstruation irregularities for female patients

If you are looking for a skilled Bountiful pediatrician for your child’s sports physical, make an appointment with Cope Family Medicine today.
